NHL – European style

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

So… my Senators are in Goteborg, Sweden, preparing for the beginning of the 2008-09 season.  They’ll open in Stockholm on October 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  The NHL is showcasing the league in Europe and this’ll be the second year that NHL teams have started the season in Europe – last year, LA and Anaheim opened their seasons in London, England.

As you can imagine, the local Ottawa press is present in droves, covering the Senators as they prepare for the season opener.  One of the members of the press corps, Stuntman Stu,  will be in Stockholm later this week.  Stu is the Senators PA Announcer and co-hosts the morning drive show on Team1200.  I found this clip on the Senators website and post it here as it is very funny.

He told me you could install it yourself, use ordinary phones, and configure it with a computer across your network. The system included voicemail too! I was immediately interested, especially when I heard how little it cost. (more…)
